Welcome to Episode 4 of my Investment Journal! The purpose of the Investment Journal, in addition to the deep dives and other articles on specific stocks, is to take you along on my investment journey, share updates on my portfolio and some general thoughts on the stock market and certain companies.
50th post
This marks the 50th post on my Substack, and I can hardly believe how quickly time has flown by. It's been an incredible journey, and I’m deeply grateful to each and every one of my subscribers. It’s an honor to see such strong interest in my work.
Unlike others who might loudly proclaim, “Buy this! This is the best stock! This is undervalued—you must invest!”, I’ve always strived to take a more measured approach. While I aim to deliver key insights in every stock analysis, it's important to remember that my posts are just one piece of the puzzle. Your own due diligence and research are irreplaceable in making informed investment decisions.
However, I hope that my more cautious and conservative approach to stock analysis resonates with you, even if it doesn't attract as much attention as some others. I am convinced that sound investment decisions are grounded in solid information and objective analysis, not in emotions or euphoria.
Portfolio
This time, I'm going to make things simple: I'm revealing my entire stock portfolio. Currently, it includes 67 stocks. I admit, that’s quite a lot. But as I mentioned in my first Investment Journal post, I'm working on concentrating my holdings by divesting from some positions and adding to the ones I believe in most. You might be wondering, "How does he track so many companies?" The simple answer is—I don’t. But I’m convinced that I don’t need to scrutinize every earnings call or quarterly report. Instead, I invest in high-quality companies that I’ve researched thoroughly.
For some investments, like ULTA, Lululemon, and newer additions, I closely monitor their progress. But for others, like the absolute best companies in the world—Visa, MasterCard, Microsoft, Alphabet, and Amazon—I don’t dive into every quarterly report. Often, I just review the annual reports for these. These are the kinds of investments that let you sleep soundly at night. And when it comes to major negative surprises, no amount of report studying can predict them; they can happen suddenly, as we saw with the IT outage that led to Crowdstrike's stock decline.
